My task this week after taking the photography class was to shoot in manual and it was not easy to do especially when I was in a very challenging lighting situation at a birthday party on Wednesday night.  I had better success outside when my boys were playing.  My dream is to acquire Photoshop CS3 and learn how to use it so that I can edit my photos and do some really neat things with them.  After taking a few pictures of the boys outside I went in to get some things done in the house and Jaden came in and said "aren't you going to take more pictures of us?"  Apparently he was enjoying his basketball photo shoot.

Yesterday was a busy day with a trip to the dentist for my four year old and a trip to the doctor for my four year old and six-year old for physicals (one a well-child visit and the other a requirement for starting school in September).  Waiting in doctor's offices are never fun but the dentist office resulted in these fun pictures of my three-year old who chose as his prize .... green heart glasses.  I couldn't wait for his dad to lay his eyes on these!!!! hahahahha!!!

New Skills

Thanks to my friend Dede's sister Carin and her amazing photography class I have learned some great things about my camera that I didn't know before... shame on me!!! No more automatic for me (if I can help it).  Here are some of my shots since.

Seeing as this is my very first post I suppose I should explain the title of my post.  Serenity Now was inspired by my four boys.  A little over a year ago our family increased in size from one to four through adoption.  Our family doubled in size overnight and it was incredible and scary and overwhelming.  Over the past year and two months I could probably write a book on all of the things that the boys have said and done that had me saying "Serenity Now"!  They have had me crying, laughing, and shaking my head in confusion.  It has taken the boys a while to adjust to our family and to living with rules.  So although I try to seek quiet moments for myself in the midst of all the many things I do as a mom... Serenity Now is also about helping my children find peace and serenity as they heal from their past and start a new future.
