Family Pictures

Another wonderful Conference weekend full of great talks (and great food).  My boys had a hard time grasping the concept that we would not be going to church on Sunday but would be going to Grandma's house instead and watching conference and the prophet on t.v. in place of church.  This was explained multiple times and they still didn't quite get it... oh well...I'll add smart pills to their cereal in the morning.  Just kidding... I ran out of them last week.

In between Sunday sessions we took a few family pictures with extended and immediate family.  The rain cooperated and stopped for picture time.  My kids were the worst with the goofy silly faces... sigh... I had to give the lecture later about how to act for picture taking.  I had failed to take several things into account #1) my 8 year old thinks his poses are "cool" #2) my six year old when put in front of the camera either does goofy faces or somber faces (it is challenge to get a natural smile) #3) my 4 year old feeds off the goofiness of those around him #4) my 3 year old is in a world of his old and does whatever he wants to do regardless of what you ask him to do.  The result... I wish my mother-in-law the best of luck in choosing a family photo that does not have one of my son's doing something objectionable.  

We had better luck when it was just our immediate family.

Lake Powell...done for this year!

Yes we are finally done with Lake Powell for this year. Poor Hornet Head (our latest nickname for our youngest boy). He managed to go one day without asking to go to Lake Powell or praying to go to Lake Powell or mentioning Lake Powell since returning home. Obviously it is his favorite place on EARTH!!! (he hasn't been to Disneyland yet)  

We went with the Gibsons this time and had lots of fun... at least I had a lot of fun each day teasing Roger about various things. My favorite was the return trip home when I got the better cashier at Wendy's and she gave me a large Frosty for free... Roger's cashier was just rude and ate his french fries that fell onto the counter. hahahaha!!!! sorry Roger... you lose!!!  

Cozette made great meals... she can cook at my house anytime... please??? like tonight for example??? and she was willing to ride the molecule with kids. Roger was brave enough to ride the molecule with Brett while I pulled them with the boat. He bragged that he wouldn't fall off the molecule. hahahahaha!!! little did he know..... he should have had a heart to heart with my nephew first before speaking those words aloud. I tossed them off like a pregnant woman tossing her cookies in her first trimester!!! The kids were laughing hysterically when we hit the waves and their dads tried to hold on for dear life. It is a sight to see. Every dad should ride the molecule with their kids watching. I'm just sorry I couldn't drive the boat and take pictures at the same time.

The kids also had fun going on hikes with dads, 

playing in the water, 

fishing,

going behind Roger's boat on the tubes, building sand castles and of course... lizard hunting.... 

I had fun taking pictures, eating, driving the boat, eating, taking a nap, eating, looking at the stars, eating and watching Brett be afraid of the bats (and Roger be afraid of a little mouse...okay turns out the mouse wasn't so little....it was the size of a size 9 shoe).

All in all, a great trip!

Reflections

My two oldest are currently working on their Reflections entries. We had a glitch with the Walmart photo processing system and they messed up with developing one of the pictures. My second oldest boy has yet to chose from the pictures he took last week. We will do that tomorrow. Anyways here is one of the Reflections entries.

Super Boys

As my two oldest boys work on their Reflections pictures I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a few pictures of my own. I saw this field of flowers on the way to Walmart and one of my boys used it to take some pics of his brothers. I also took each boy aside and snapped some pictures. We were not the only ones using the field I noticed. Another family had the same idea to use the field for a family picture. My boys each wore a super hero cape. They sure are super characters!!! Each with their own unique personality. They make me laugh, make me smile, make me cry sometimes, make me shake my head often in amazement (more in the area of "what were you thinking when you did that" category), but overall make me glad I'm their mom.

Wheeler Farm

On Saturday we went to Wheeler Farm as a family to enjoy the activities which were sponsored by Marcus' school (he attends Head Start).  The boys had a great time on the inflatable slide, bounce house, and wagon ride.

We also checked out the chickens, pigs, sheep, and turkeys.  Brett asked Gage if he wanted to chase the rooster which was not in a cage.  It is our running joke to ask Gage about chasing roosters as Gage has told us a number of times that once he chased a rooster at his Grandpa's and the rooster turned on him, chased after him and pecked him on the butt.  

If you look carefully you can see Brett behind the tractor in the picture below.

When we checked out the barn with an unknown large black animal in it, Gage quickly identified it as a cow peeking around the doorway.  As the boys looked at the cow from behind the safety of the fence, suddenly the cow charged out of the doorway towards the boys and didn't stop until at the fence.  They ran away yelling, some laughing.  Marcus was the first to go back to the fence to try and make the cow charge the fence again.  He was NOT disappointed and the cow charged a second time.  A cow with issues I guess. She must be a mother of four. hahahahaha!!!

We ended the day with feeding the ducks and geese.  When the bread ran out I took a final chance to sneak in a few last pictures... of course!!!

Brain Dead Moment of the Day

Today we had lunch at a very small park while I waited to attend a meeting for Marcus' school. (may I emphasize small ... really you can't call it a park... but hey the kids were happy with it)  In typical Robin brain-dead fashion, I realized at 5 minutes to 1:00 that I was at the wrong location for the meeting.  My husband didn't take my urgent call for help on my cell to find out where Harrison Street was and my usual back-up also didn't answer.  Thanks to Dede I was able to get the number of the Community Center and find out the West coordinate.  Thanks Dede!!!!  If only I had a brain!!!!  If stake roadshows come back into popularity again and our ward chooses the Wizard of Oz, you'll know who to cast as the Scarecrow.  I win hands down!!!
